Classroom Expectations

  1. Be respectful at all times.  You get what you give.
  2. Be in class, seated, and ready to learn BEFORE class starts. 
  3. Don't leave without permission.
  4. Keep hands, feet, objects, and insults to yourself.
  5. Your assignments and grades are YOUR responsibility.
  6. If you don't want your parents to learn about it, don't say it.  Don't do it.

     

Consequences
  1. I don't call your parents.  You do.  You did it.  You tell them.
  2. If you're late, sign in even if you have a note.  Tardy 3 times without a note gets you Lunch Detention.  4 times tardy (with or without a note) gets you Saturday School.
  3. Fighting, gang activity, and possession of gang paraphernalia, weapons, drugs, or other illegal substances will not be tolerated.  You WILL be suspended.
** Keep in mind that I have the right and tendency to alter punishments as I see fit. **
 
 

Classroom Procedures

  1. Assignment lists are distributed at the beginning of each Quarter ("GradeKeeper" and GRID).  Each assignment is listed with the date it is due.  It is the student's responsibility to complete assignments correctly and on time and to record grades.
  2. Journals will be used to complete daily Quick Writes and weekly Probes and TCAP Coach assignments. It is the student's responsibility to complete each assignment.
  3. Work due before Progress Reports will not be accepted after  Progress Report grades are calculated.
  4. Students are responsible for original written pieces that may be featured in the class book KidSwords VI.  
         * Original Poems -- (at least 8 lines each)      * Memoir -- (300 - 500 words)
         * Short Story -- (300 - 500 words)                * Interview -- (1 - 2 pages front and back)
         * Research Paper/5 Paragraph Essay -- (300 - 500 words)

  • 1 3-prong folder with pockets                   * hand-held pencil sharpener                                 
  • sheet/document protectors                      * blue or black pens
  • 2 composition books                                 * colored pencils or crayons (optional)                    
  • looseleaf notebook paper
